Increase in UK Light Dues

Despite strong opposition from the shipping industry and agents like ourselves, the UK Government has chosen to apply two-step increases on UK portcalls as follows:

Step One - from 1st July 2009
--------
GBP 0.04p increase per NT to GBP 0.39p per NT
Payable number of voyages in the 'year'
(01/07/09-31/03/10) increases from 7 to 9

The maximum payable NT remains at
35,000 NT - GBP 13,650

Recap:

Rate increased to - GBP 0.39p per NT
Maximum payable NT - 35,000 NT
Maximum payable GBP - 13,650 GBP
Max.payments in year - 9 (01/07 to 31/03)

Step Two - from 1st April 2010
--------
GBP 0.04p increase per NT to GBP 0.43p per NT
Payable number of voyages in the year
(01/04/10-31/03/11) remains at 9

The maximum payable NT increases
to 40,000 NT - GBP 17,200

Recap:

Rate increased to - GBP 0.43p per NT
Maximum payable NT - 40,000 NT
Maximum payable GBP - 17,200 GBP
Max payments in year - 9 (01/04 to 31/03)
