The Graypen STS team, located at the head office in Immingham, was originally formed in 2001 to assist some of our active oil-trading clients consolidate cargoes for long-haul shipment from Europe to far eastern destinations. Our initial success enabled the team to respond and quickly meet the increasing requirement of this specialised sector of the industry. Since these early movements the number of STS transfer operations has steadily increased around the UK/Continent locations and this has enabled Graypen's STS team to further innovate its operating procedures to ensure they meet all current industry standards and regulations as well as observing environmental demands in conjunction with the commercial requirements of our clients.
The Graypen STS team offers a comprehensive service in this specialised sector with fully experienced / qualified operational staff coordinating the boarding agents who attend all vessels
Graypen continues to invest in education and training of staff to perform specialist dedicated functions and all are provided with the latest communication equipment (Blackberry devices and Satellite phones/email) in order to ensure that communications are maintained at all times, even when operations are carried out at distant off-shore locations.
As with all Graypen operations, our close attention to detail has seen the Graypen STS team receive considerable support from many of the major oil companies and oil trading companies which are actively involved in this sector of the industry.

The deep water of Scapa Flow on the Orkney Islands is regularly used. Located within the controlled Harbour area this anchorage position offers reasonable shelter from the weather but requires operators to use the usual port services such as pilots, tugs etc.
The overside discharge of clean segregated ballast is not permitted owing to the local eco-system and means that loading vessels my have to delay operations to fulfil this requirement.

Conducted in the open waters of the North Sea, all types of liquid cargoes can be transferred within an area defined by a circle of 1 (one) mile radius from the position:
